Asbestos Awareness

Overview

This course has been designed to bring an awareness of the dangers that still prevail and how we can best assess the risk and formulate the best measures of control for all employees in their place of work, especially those involved in the refurbishment, repair or maintenance of buildings

At least 3500 people die each year in the UK from asbestos related lung cancer and mesothelioma as a result of past exposure to asbestos. It was used extensively as a building material in the UK from the 1050s through to the mid 1980s. Although some of this material has been removed over the years, it is estimated that many thousands of tonnes of asbestos is still present in over half a million commercial and domestic premises.
